Timepiece: Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Quantième Annuel

Blancpain, the Swiss luxury timepiece maker, releases an update to the impressive and popular Fifty Fathoms collection with the Bathyscaphe Quantième Annuel. The new model combines the sports feel with the original diving watch DNA that made its debut at Baselworld earlier this year.

The Fifty Fathoms heritage dates back to 1953 as Blancpain debuted the world’s first modern diving watch that served professional divers underwater. The key features and characteristics have endured through the years in timeless fashion. The 2018 release sees the additional functionality of a sports timepiece with indicators for the day of the week, date and month all arranged on the slick dial.

The 43mm satin-finished steel case looks impressive housing the meteor grey dial. It shimmers in the light, as the wrist moves. There’s also the black ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel which is a nice ascent to the existing styling. Powered by Blancpain’s in-house caliber movement – the 6054.P, which is based on the twin-barrel 1150 movement but slighted modified. Finishing off this timepiece is the choice of strap in sail-canvas, NATO or metal bracelet.

RRP £19,130 – Blancpain
