Timepiece: Hublot Big Bang Unico Sapphire

The world’s most famous watch show, Baselworld, kicks off this week to much fanfare among timepiece aficionados. Of the many models catching the eye of discerning gents this spring, Hublot’s Big Bang Unico Sapphire, a transparent skeleton watch, is one that is collecting many headlines.

This year Hublot will launch just 500 of these models for collectors to snap up. The watch itself is entirely see-through, working to the technical automatic flyback chronograph movement and features a case which is carved out of solid sapphire – adding to the allure of a timepiece in demand. Elsewhere, the screws, crown and strap buckle are all made of titanium to complete the masculine look and feel. So even if this seems fragile, rest assured that it’s probably tougher than most things – given that it is as solid and scratch-proof as a diamond.

RRP £43,600, available from Hublot.com
