Wise brands knew that 2020 was all about a strong collaboration game in order to achieve maximum impact. One such brand on top form when it comes to collaborations is Converse, leading the way with its smart thinking with key collaborations throughout 2020. The brand have started 2021 in strong form, this time launching the limited edition Converse x Telfar collection.
Telfar, the American label founded in 2004 has been riding the crest of a wave for the last few years. Leading with its tagline “Telfar is not for you, it’s for everyone” there is a strong sense of purpose with the black-owned and non-gendered brand. It’s credentials are strong with the association with Converse, having been awarded the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Prize in 2017 along with its guest designer appearance at Pitti Uomo 97. A stellar billing indeed.
So what about the collection itself? Well, any collaboration with Converse has to start with a new set of Chuck Taylors. There are two pairs in the collection alongside a range of basketball-themed clothing apparel, namely t-shirts, track tops, sweatpants, vests and hoodies.
The colourways feature subtle shades paired with bold pops of colour. For example, T-Shirts range from subtle white through to bold greens and yellows. Footwear keeps the monochrome theme with white and black versions of the famed Chuck Taylors, whilst the hoodies and track tops give a sporty feel to things.
Overall the collection has the allure of desire, there is something in the collection for everyone and the colourways ensures this appeal. Given the strong collaboration so earlier in the year already makes DiscerningGent.com think that a further collection from Converse x Telfar is to come later in the year. Watch this space is all we can say.
Pricing ranges from £65 for T-shirts, £85 each for the hoodie and sweatpants, £100 for the vest, £120 for footwear and £130 for the track top.
