There are few things in this world more famous than the Coca Cola brand. That famous red, the allure of the dark sugary liquid and the can/bottle itself are famous the world over. In the timepiece world, the ‘coke’ colourway has always been an eye catching visual which is why Timex has expanded its M79 Automatic collection by adding a new red and black bezel colourway.
The new ‘coke’ bezel adds to the all-black and black/blue ‘Batman’ bezel options that have been available since February 2020. The move was planned as Timex wanted to taste the same success of its 2019 Timex Q series of quartz movements with an automatic offering. This one in particular features a 40-hour power reserve.
The ‘coke’ colourway is hugely popular in the watch world, with Rolex as the most renowned of the timepiece makers to create its ‘coke’ colourway. The Timex M79 ‘coke’ offering is one example of how effective the red on black can be for watch aficionados. The Timex example is also a lot easier on the wallet in comparison to the Rolex model and so, suits a wearer keen to mix watch styling into his overall look without breaking the bank.
The Timex M79 features a 40mm stainless steel case in a 21-jewel Japanese automatic on display through the exhibition caseback. Other key detailing includes a day/date indicator, a unidirectional bezel, a domed acrylic glass front, luminous hands, a stainless steel bracelet and is water resistant to a depth of 50m.
