Timepiece: Gerard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Wired

When anything hits a 230th anniversary it is the time to celebrate and commemorate. Timepiece maker Gerard-Perregaux hits that illustrious milestone this year, celebrating the moment with the launch of its Laureato Absolute Wired limited edition timepiece.

The eye catching timepiece features a 44mm case and bezel that are both made from Gerard-Perregaux’s carbon glass, a material formed from layers of carbon fiber and fiberglass that is baked under pressure in an autoclave. The result provides alternating layers of both opaque and translucent materials – resembling layered electric blue crystals – in alluring patterns around the case of the watch. It makes for a truly iconic bezel. The fusion of the materials also guarantees full water resistance too.

Elsewhere on the timepiece, black-PVD treated titanium is used for the buckle, chronograph pushers and crown. The 419 piece chronograph uses a 4Hz Girard-Perregaux self-winding movement, driving two counter and small seconds as well as a date display. Guaranteeing impeccably accurate timekeeping, it is distinguished by its comfortable power reserve of 46 hours and the particularly smooth activation of its pushers.

The watch launch also forms part of a new e-commerce platform of the timepiece maker. With the unveiling of its very own online timepiece store, watch aficionados can purchase directly from the brand rather than through a watch vendor. In order to entice watch buyers, the Laureato Absolute Wired is exclusively available at Gerard-Perregaux’s online store and is limited to a mere 88 piece production run. The discerning gent is advised to get it while he can.
