Spring is certainly in the air. With the changing of the seasons, so to are styles switching from winter warmers to spring layering at its finest. Stone Island, the Italian men’s fashion label recently acquired by Italian fashion house Moncler, has grabbed the spring time vibes with its latest Spring/Summer 2021 Marina collection.
In designing the new collection, Stone Island focused on exploring the right materials blended with the appropriate design to represent the functional and emotive sides that spring brings. The opportunity to flash some colour after months of dark and neutral tones alongside layering up in the best way to tackle unexpected weather. The first element to stand out from the Marina collection is the two distinct colourways the brand has chosen – monochromatic aqua-blue and black. There will be the addition of avio blue available via the Stone Island app from 8th March too.
The collection is all about layering, because in spring requires the strategically curated line up of various layers to combat the unpredictable elements at play. One moment spring showers, the next warming sunshine. To combat this assault, Stone Island has a pair of three-layer, fully seam-taped outerwear pieces that will keep the discerning gent dry throughout any downpour.
One of the key highlights of the Marina collection is the focus on sustainable fashion. Marina comprises of a number of layerable pullovers, t-shirts and shorts that have been crafted in cotton and polyester Seaqual fleece – a high quality 100% post-consumer recycled yarn to lower plastic pollution. Furthermore, recycled nylon twill is used for the pants, shorts and overshirt in the collection.
Smaller, yet no less fundamental, details of the collection including a sharp-cutting look to the silhouette thanks to a hidden standing zipper fastening, discrete snap-closures at the sleeves and the Nehru collar. The Marina collection is available now via the Stone Island webstore and select retailers.
