Think of Cuba and you’d be forgiven for only thinking of the stunning sandy beaches, fine rum and decadent cigars. But would you think of classic timepieces too? Well, the discerning gent should as this is the home of luxury watch brand Cuervo y Sobrinos, makers of fine timepieces steeped in Latin flavour. With the release of the Torpedo Pirata GMT. It’s a salute to the daring and adventure of the Caribbean seas.
Themed on the buccaneering and rebellious side of the pirates sailing the high seas, the Torpedo Pirata links back to the past with a case in the shape of a cannon mouth and the lugs representing the bow of a ship. Look to the crown and you’ll notice the subtle design in the shape of a globe whilst the buckle compliments the design of the lugs.
A unique innovation of the Torpedo Pirata is the complicated modular case, enclosing an automatic movement, that allows interchangeable rings to be fitted between the case and bezel. With a design that can evolve over time, the lucky owner can switch between various metals in true pirate spirit.
Available with white or black dials in either bronze or titanium, it is filled with intricate detailing such as the inner circle with Arabic numerals or the sapphire crystal case-back. Even the black alligator or ostrich leather strap features grey stitching detailing and the pin buckle is titanium.
